CAFOD Lenten Fast Day – Friday 26th February
This year is the 50th anniversary of Lenten Fast Day and we’re been asked to give it up!
Most of us usually give up something for Lent like biscuits, wine, a big dinner on a Friday. This year why not create some amazing changes for people who live in the developing world by giving the money saved to CAFOD? For example the money you save by missing out on your favourite biscuits each day could go towards a bicycle to help a health volunteer take food to orphaned children.
You will be given a copy with your newsletter. If you do not receive one, please contact Cathedral House.
Will those who volunteered to witness at the Cross during Holy Week, please return their forms this weekend and hand them in to Jean (Sacristan). Thank you.
In your newsletter you will be given a leaflet showing the 2 charities that have been approved by St Marie’s PPC for support this year. These are a local project and an international project. There will be an opportunities throughout the year to support these charities, the first opportunity being the Lenten Alms. There will also be a collection at the Wednesday lunchtime Mass for the chosen charities.
Session 14 takes place on Tuesday evening in Houlden Hall at 7.30pm.
24th March 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the martyrdom of Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador who was shot at the altar whilst celebrating Mass. The 6.30pm Mass will mark this occasion and will be celebrated by Bishop John. All welcome.
