Cycle A – 9th November to 15th November 2008
Today’s feast draws us to think of our relationship with the mother church in Rome, not St Peter’s but the more ancient Lateran Basilica (or the Basilica of the Most Holy Saviour and St John the Baptist, to give it its full name). This is the Pope’s cathedral, built on land given by the Emperor Constantine and dedicated almost 1,700 years ago. We may draw strength and vision from our links to this central image of the unity of the worldwide Church.
The new programme is for anyone wishing to explore the Catholic faith and for all who are considering the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism and Confirmation), begins on Tuesday 18th November in the Houlden Hall from 7.30pm to 9pm. It is with great joy that Annociate Nimpagaritse, a member of the Music Group and the subject of city-wide protest at two attempted deportations - on 23rd October was granted permission to remain in the UK. On the same day, Lea also from the Music Group and given permission to remain for a while now, was informed that her children would be re-united with her form Congo. Their reaction? God is good!
